* Lena: Are you going to do any contests on your website?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:00 PM ET ) As of now I do not have the time to create a super contest like American Idol. But maybe in the future! We can make it Russian Idol!

* Naveed (Michigan): What are you planning to do in the off season?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:01 PM ET ) Well, I do not really have an offseason because the next tournament is on New Years, so I will just try to rest and get ready for the next season, which will be a very difficult season.

* N (Michigan): What is your gameplan heading into the davis cup final this weekend?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:02 PM ET ) To play well. But it is very hard to know how you are going to play, but if I play well than generally the plan is to use your strength against the weakness of the opponent...since it could be Andy Roddick or James Blake, I do not want to give away the secrets of what I may do.

* Gretel (Montana): What's your best memory from last season so far?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:04 PM ET ) That is hard to answer, because I cannot really think of any. Going on a date with 20 supermodels right after I lost in the first round in Paris worked. Fish felt really bad for me, so he set me up with the models.

* Jennifer, Idaho: How do you like Portland?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:06 PM ET ) I like it a lot actually. I did not know what to expect but I have been sitting online and looking up for places to go, and there are a lot of hip places to go for younger people, something Sacramento really does not have. So I am enjoying it, outside of the gloomy weather.

* Natasha - Baltimore, MD: I believe that our Russian team is strong enough to win in Davis Cup Final. Dima, in your opinion, what will it take for you & your teammates to win?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:07 PM ET ) Well, when there are two teams playing, any team can win, even though the Americans are favored, because they are playing on their favorite surface. It is hard to put all the pieces of the puzzle together, but it has happened before, and hopefully we will have a miracle on the hardcourt, instead of ice.

* Zubin Hathi (Roanoke, Virginia): Hey Dmitry do you plan to play doubles as well as singles with Safin or someone? Anyways good luck!

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:09 PM ET ) We have talked with Marat about it, and we agreed that he will go and get ready for the next doubles season in the Hymalayas. He is doing some conditioning there, and as soon as the Davis Cup is finished I will join him there to discuss our strategy.

* Ken NY NY: When Murphy Jensen called you comrad on his TC program didnt you want to tell him to give it a rest? That really bothered me.

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:11 PM ET ) That whole show is a more light hearted show, which is meant to show the ligh shide of tennis. He was not making fun of Russians, he was just joking around...and he was wasted. And when people get wasted they relate to Russians more easily.

* N (Michigan): What's your favorite place you've visited, either for playing a tournament, or just vacation

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:14 PM ET ) I am lucky enough to travel for my work, and I have been to some really nice places and some really bad places (St. Joseph, Missouri). But it is very hard for me to pick a favorite, but I like old cities with a lot of culture and history. The thought of walking on the same street that Shakespeare could have walked on in incrediible and special to me. I love European cities like Rome, Madrid, London, and Paris. But come to think of it maybe St. Joseph's is the nicest place I've played.

* Griffin, Dallas: What other sports do you play and/or watch besides tennis?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:16 PM ET ) For that info, you can log on to ATPtennis.com. There is more detailed information there. But I have always enjoyed watching curling, it is a very demanding sport both physically and mentally. And my favorite athlete is Brian Boitano. There is something so beautiful about his effortless style.

* Lirika: Do you like "Friends"? If you do, do you have favorite character?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:18 PM ET ) I do not really watch it, but the few times I watched it I always had a secret wish to put a hammer through Ross, and I mostly relate Phoebe. I think secretly she is the smartest of them all.

* Julie, Sacramento: What name would (will) you give to your child? Do you like the name Damien?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:21 PM ET ) No. I will name him something like Gorbachev. But for a girl I like Nikkita, although it is not a Russian name like most people think. It is mopre of a boys name, but I like it for a girl, because I am freaky like that. For a boy I do not know. Why are you asking? Do I have a child in Sacramento that I am not aware of?

* Norm (Honolulu, HI): Hi Dmitry: When a lot of media attention was given to the recent reports of fixed matches and drug use... did that have any effect on how players in the locker room interacted? did it create any unnecessary gossip and suspicion among the players at all?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:25 PM ET ) Not really. It does not feel like it effected players that much, but I think now players feel like whatever they say can be misinterpreted. It almnost seems like someone is trying to tarnish the sport in general. A lot of those reports on the drug use and match fixing etc. alot of those reports were more speculation than anything than anything else, or an accusation without facts. I think a lot of times these things were reported just to have a story. I mean, negative info sells a lot better than saying everything is going well in that sport. So I think a lot of those problems came from the press, which just wanted to create some noise and negative publicity.

* Amelie Paris: Do you speak french ? Si oui quelques mots lol

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:27 PM ET ) I do not. But if you are asking me to marry you I will consider it. But only if it is Amelie Mauresmo.

* Abid (Vancouver Canada): How often do you go out to party? What do you usually like to drink?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:29 PM ET ) I go out at times, and I really like going to lounges or clubs that play electronic music. But I do not like being surrounded by drunk people, so it is hard to go out at times, and I only go out with good friends, and if I drink it is in company and not by myself. I do not have a favorite drink, but I do like Rum and Coke.

* Joe, Reno, NV: you favourite animal?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:31 PM ET ) Cat. Out of domestic ones. I really wanted pet elephant, but it could not fit in the apatrment. But I also like hedgehogs.

* Naveed (Michigan): what are your expectations heading into next year?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:33 PM ET ) I have been playing pretty well so far, but a lot of times I space out. So I need to work on my level of concentration. I think my physical game is good enough to be in the top 10, but you also need to stay focused to make it, and that is the key for me. So I do not have expectations, I just want to maximize my potential.

* Jennifer (Seattle, WA): You are too funny!.. Have your clever comments ever gotten you into a sticky situation?

Dmitry Tursunov: (4:35 PM ET ) Yes, because I am a very sarcastic person and I always do it with a straight face. So people often times assume I am serious, especially when I joke about Barbara Streisand.

* Lidia: Your favorite book?

SportsNation Dmitry Tursunov: (4:39 PM ET ) I cannot pick just one ebcause there are so many interesting books, and they all have so many different pictures. But some of my favorite authors are Russian like Chekhov, because he writes about seruious issues with a sense of humor, which is very difficult. And also like Zoshenko, who is an author that you could not translate into English.

Dmitry Tursunov, is hosting a BBQ meet and greet for local fans. Proceeds from the event will benefit his nonprofit organization, Equal Chance Foundation, established by Dmitry to give Sacramento’s underprivileged youth an opportunity to realize their potential.

The day will kick off with an exhibition match against one of the most successful local juniors, Mateusz Kecki (Nike Junior Open and Easter Bowl Champion) and will be followed by on court games for kids with Dmitry and a BBQ.

The event will begin at 12 noon on Saturday, December 15 at the Gorin Tennis Academy, 8970 Carriage Dr., Granite Bay.

Tickets are $50.00 and are limited to the first 100 people.
